Frequently Asked Questions
What are my chances of receiving a grant?
Through the Green Apple School Program, Metro will allocate $500,000 in Ontario for the 2016-2017 school year in $1,000 grants. Early registrations will have a better chance of being selected, as grants are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How are projects selected to receive grants?
A committee composed of Metro representatives will analyze the projects. When they meet eligibility criteria, they will be automatically accepted and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Is my school eligible?
Every registered elementary or high school, public or private, in Ontario is eligible to participate in the program. Child care centers and adults education centers are not eligible.
Who can submit a project idea?
Anyone affiliated with the school (principal, teacher, professional advisors, nurses, etc.) can submit an idea with the principal’s approval.
Can I submit a project idea on my own?
No, projects must be submitted on behalf of an eligible school, and must be approved by the school principal.
What types of projects can be submitted?
The goal of the Green Apple School Program is to encourage Quebec students to adopt healthy eating habits and increasing their fruits and vegetables consumption, which are the foundation of healthy eating habits.
Is there a deadline for submitting a project?
Yes. All applications must be received by December 31, 2017.
What is the number of projects permitted per school?
Schools can submit however many project applications they want. However, in order for the Metro Green Apple School Program to be present in all communities of the province, each school can receive a maximum of two grants per school year.
Is it normal that I did not receive a confirmation of my project submission?
If you have not received confirmation, it is because we have not received your project. It is possible that an item in one of the mandatory fields was not entered properly (format of date, telephone number, etc.). When an application form is filled out completely, you are asked to click on “submit”. A project number then appears in the upper left-hand corner, indicating that the required information has been registered properly. If it does not, a red list appears with the required fields to be corrected or completed.
Who should I contact if I have more questions?
